Task 3 - Write an appraisal for three art works that you viewed at the exhibition. Each appraisal should be three paragraphs long (9 - 12 sentences). Focus on identifying the artist's intent for the work, and visual arts elements used to create the work e.g. You might discuss the artists use of colour, line, shape, texture, etc. You can use the information gathered in your exhibition worksheet to inform your appraisals.

Task 4 - Research a contempory issue that you feel strongly about or that relates to you in some way. For example, you may wish to research - environmental issues, Indigenous Australia, equality of life for all children, children's rights etc. Reflect upon the art works at the exhibition and how art can be used to respond to contemporary issues. Take action by creating a visual art work that responds to the contemporary issue chosen.

Task 5 - Write an artist statement that identifies your intent for the work (what you want the work to achieve), your influences, the elements, the materials and the methods you used to complete the work. This should be 300 - 400 words long.

Task 6 - Complete the 'what have I learnt' section of your KWL chart. Write a reflection for your arts journey that addresses the following:

  • What have you found interesting throughout your journey?
  • What have you found helpful?
  • What could be changed for next time?
  • What have you learnt?
  • What are your strenghts and weaknesses in visual arts?
  • How could you continue to improve your work and technical shills?
