Before the Exhibition

1 - Ask students 'what is art?' and create a concept plan with their ideas on the whiteboard.

2 - Introduce activism. What does activist and activism mean? Refer to the Introuction page.

3 - Look at various forms of activism through art, for example political activism and environmental activism, use the examples on the Exhibition Preview page. Study the preview of the exhibition, discuss artists, elements, principles and issues raised.

4 - Guide students through Student Resources page.

5 - Ask students to complete the Know and Want to know columns of the KWL chart individually.
