Environmental Activism Through Art

Whilst more Australians are becoming increasingly aware of how much we waste, there are some people who find unique ways to document the impact of the environmental problems we create.
Visual representation of the waste we produce and its damage on the environment often constitutes a simple and effective message.

The following works are by John Dahlsen;

John Dahlsen recycles and reuses wasted materials in fascinating ways. The following works are excellent examples of environmental art.

For this work titled ‘Zebra Plastics’ John has used recycled plastic bags as the primary medium. The brilliance of the colours being presented is particulary intriguing.

"I see that by making this art, it is a way of sharing my messages for the need to care for our environment with a broad audience. I feel that even if just a fraction of the viewing audience were to experience a shift in their awareness and consciousness about the environment and art, through being exposed to this artwork then it would be worth it" (John
Dahlsen, copyright 2001-2009).
